About Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise adaptable to many fitness levels and needs. Pilates principles can be applied to almost any activity that we engage in on a daily basis in our everyday life. It provides a better understanding of the way that we should hold our bodies, releasing stress on the body’s tissues and joints and improving postural alignment.

With its mix of exercises Pilates improves flexibility, coordination, core strength, peripheral mobility and functional fitness. It stretches and balances the body, increases mobility and flexibility of the spine and encourages a healthier and stronger back. It also increases lung capacity and circulation through deep and healthy breathing whilst maintaining and improving bone density and joint health. Pilates provides a safe and beneficial type of exercise for people with a wide range of medical conditions, including disc related injuries, scoliosis, osteoporosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, sacroiliac joint dysfunction and lower back pain.

Led by our Experienced Instructor Pilates helps reduce risk of injury, facilitates recovery from an injury and improves freedom of movement. It offers a safe and excellent form of exercise for pre and post-natal women as well as a supportive and safe form of exercise for breast cancer sufferers during the post-surgery recovery period.

Pilates is a fantastic workout which provides a strong foundation for a healthy body which can enhance your sport or workout activities and compliments training for athletes and dancers. Mentally it can provide a sense of calm and well-being which leads to improved quality of daily life.
